On December 8, 2004, Alliance Executive Director Fernando Muiz served as the keynote speaker for the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission's (LPRAC) annual legislative reception.

LPRAC has chosen the reduction of over-representation of Latinos in Connecticut's juvenile justice system as one of its legislative priorities for the 2005 session. The Alliance was asked to provide background information on the issue and describe ways in which other states have dealt with this issue.
The attached PowerPoint file (PDF version)represents part of our presentation to LPRAC and begins to explain the disproportionate minority contact issue. This PowerPoint focuses on the issue of over-representation relative to the Latino population. A similar presentation is also available with data that focuses on over-representation of African-American youth. To schedule a presentation, please e-mail [2] Fernando Muiz or call (203) 579-2727.
