Configuration

Overview

SPS is controlled by a single configuration file, typically "sps/conf/config.dat". This file specifies all aspects of the installation, including:
  • Which tables and fields are part of the SPS installation;
  • Which directories can be managed from within SPS;
  • Which templates and database queries are used to generate the site;
  • How the site should be published

Other Resources
There is a command-line utility for checking the syntax of configuration files, which is particularly useful for validating complex files or finding bugs. It is documented in the FAQ section here. The CacheConfig utility offers the ability to cache configuration files, resulting in a dramatic performance improvement on sites with complex configurations. It is also documented in the FAQ section here.
In addition, several sample sites including their configuration files are included with SPS; consult the samples section of the manual.
