About: History
The mission of the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance is to promote a safe, effective and equitable service continuum for children and adolescents involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the juvenile justice system. The Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance accomplishes its mission by serving as a catalyst for systems reform. The Alliance employs the following strategies in pursuit of its mission: - policy research;
- public education;
- strategic communications;
- partnership development; and
- community engagement.
The Alliance was launched in November 2001 as a collaborative of four Connecticut organizations: RYASAP, the Center for Children's Advocacy, Connecticut Voices for Children, and the Tow Foundation.
In the 2007 legislative session, we will be supporting legislation to decriminalize status offenders (Family With Service Needs) and to raise the age of jurisdictional majority from 16 to 18.
